Product Description

Precision Earthworks for Tight Spaces & Urban Backyards

You do not need massive machinery to make a massive impact on your landscape. In fact, when dealing with suburban blocks, narrow property lines, or densely planted food forests, a large machine is a massive liability.

Standard earthmoving contractors often struggle in tight residential spaces, risking damage to existing structures, underground services, and delicate topsoil. We eliminate that risk. When you book this service, you aren’t just renting a machine; you are securing an expert operator who understands soil mechanics, suburban hydrology, and precision grading.

Equipment Capabilities (1.7T to 2.4T Mini Excavators) We utilize specialized mini excavators designed specifically for low-impact, tight-access operations:

  • 1.7-Ton Excavator: The ultimate “backyard” machine. The tracks on this machine can retract inward, allowing it to squeeze through standard residential side-gates (as narrow as 990mm). Perfect for urban retrofits, micro-swales, and working in tight spaces without tearing up your lawn.

  • 2.4-Ton Excavator: A slight step up in power and reach while maintaining a very small footprint. Ideal for small acreage jobs, heavy terracing, stump removal, and moving bulk mulch or soil in confined spaces.

What We Build at the Micro-Scale:

  • Urban Water Harvesting: Precision cutting for small backyard swales, rain gardens, and directing tank overflow safely away from your house foundations.

  • Terracing & Raised Beds: Sculpting sloped suburban yards into highly usable, flat terraces for intensive vegetable production and food forests.

  • Trenching & Infrastructure: Digging neat, safe trenches for irrigation, off-grid water lines, or preparing pathways without heavily compacting the surrounding soil.

  • Low-Impact Clearing: Removing invasive species, pulling old stumps, or breaking up hardpan clay to prep your soil for immediate planting.

How Wet Hire Works:

  1. “Wet Hire” Defined: You are hiring the machinery plus me as the experienced, engineering-qualified operator. (We do not offer “dry hire” for you to drive the machine yourself).

  2. Checkout & Quoting: Secure your booking through the checkout. Because machinery hire requires specific float transport and site-access checks, your checkout covers the base booking. We will contact you immediately to confirm site access and any applicable travel/float fees based on your exact location in QLD.

  3. Execution: We arrive on-site, review the access and underground services, and execute your earthworks with surgical precision.

What if I have underground pipes or cables?2026-08-05T12:47:50+10:00

Working in tight urban spaces always carries the risk of underground services. Before we begin digging, we will conduct a site walkaround with you. It is highly recommended that you know the location of your water and power lines, or use a “Dial Before You Dig” service prior to our arrival.

Do I drive the machine myself?2026-08-05T12:47:02+10:00

No. This is strictly a “Wet Hire” service. You are hiring a highly specialized machine accompanied by a Master of Environmental Engineering to operate it. This ensures your earthworks are executed safely, precisely, and to the correct hydrological gradients.

Will the excavator fit through my side gate?2026-08-05T12:46:19+10:00

In most cases, yes. Our 1.7T mini excavator features retractable tracks that can shrink down to just under 1 meter wide (approx. 990mm). As long as you have a standard side gate and clear access without sharp right-angle turns, we can get into your backyard.
